York Victorian Tilers
We only use traditional methods and authentic materials for restoring tiled floors. We have worked on many Grade One and Two listed buildings ranging from the 13th to 20th centuries. Buildings we’ve worked on include stately homes, private residences and church properties.
We were the first tilers to work on the Chapter House in York Minster in nearly 200 years.
Everyone at York Victorian Tilers love our jobs. We take exceptional pride in our work and of course we are full qualified, artisan craftsmen. We specialise in the restoration of encaustic tiled floors from the Victorian era but have used our skills on floors of all ages including contemporary tiling.
Not everyone has a genuine Victorian tiled floor of course. However, we also provide a design and installation service for those who want a replica floor in their home. You can read more about our Victorian tiling restoration and reproduction services here.

I founded York Victorian Tilers over 20 years ago but have many more years of experience in the heritage construction industry. I am so lucky in that I love the job I do and have a genuine passion for carrying on the work of craftsmen from centuries ago.
I have studied my craft in the UK and abroad including at Leeds College of Building, York College and mosaic art schools in Italy. Not only do I enjoy my job, I love talking about it and regularly lecture at conservation trusts in the UK.
I hold qualifications in construction and heritage tiling and am a member of the Construction Industry Training Board.
